Event Highlights
Intense Competition, Unprecedented Achievements
This year’s China Long Drive Championship has been hailed as the most prestigious since the
event’s inception in 2020, especially in the Men’s Division. The top 40 qualifiers in the pre-season
averaged 320 yards, meaning that a 320-yard drive would place an athlete only 40th. The
competition was intense, with Wu Di setting the stage by hitting 401 yards, becoming the first athlete
in China’s history to surpass 400 yards in an official competition. Just half an hour later, Yao
Wentao, known as “Kuai Ge” from Kunming, shattered that record with a phenomenal 406-yard
drive, becoming the longest-hitting player of the competition and the first-ever holder of the 400-
yard milestone in China’s long drive history.
Innovative Team Competition Set to Become Future Focus
In an exciting addition to this year’s championship, the event introduced a team competition as an
exhibition format. Four teams—Beijing, Shanghai, Kunming, and Shenzhen—participated, each
with five players. The competition followed a format similar to a penalty shootout in soccer, where
one-on-one match results determined the winning team. In the final, Shenzhen defeated Shanghai
3-2 to become the inaugural team competition champions.
The team competition received strong praise from both participants and viewers, with live streaming
numbers showing impressive engagement: 22,000 on WeChat Video and 15,000 on Tikrok. This
success has led to plans for expanding the team format in future editions, with the potential to
include Women’s, Senior, Youth, and Mixed teams.
Broadcasting Quality Elevated: Audience Numbers Soar
This year’s event saw a significant upgrade in broadcasting quality, with the live streaming team
from Guangzhou Hongsheng Media using five 4K cameras and one drone for a comprehensive,
multi-angle coverage of the event. Additionally, a professional 4K OB van was deployed to ensure
seamless signal transmission and enhance the viewing experience for fans worldwide.
Renowned golf celebrity Jason, Cheng Chi, and Li Yuan were invited to provide commentary. Their
expertise and engaging interactions enriched the overall broadcast and provided viewers with
insightful commentary on the sport.
Acknowledgements to Sponsors for Their Support
The organizing committee extends its heartfelt gratitude to the event’s sponsors. Despite a tight
preparation schedule of less than two months from qualifying to the final, the event received
tremendous support from sponsors across various sectors. This support was instrumental in ensuring
the event’s success and rapid mobilization. The organizing committee would like to sincerely thank
the sponsors for their trust and contribution to making this year’s championship a resounding
success.
