The Asia Long Drive Association (ALDA) is now aiming to introduce Long Drive Sport in Qatar and simultaneously develop and popularize the game in the Middle East gradually. According to ALDA plans, the Asia Long Drive Tour Event or Championship 2024 can be the first tournament to start with.
In a bid to fulfill this desire, ALDA General Secretary Mr.Shine Liu had an extensive trip to Qatar in February and the ongoing March. He is very much aware of the fact that finding a proper venue to stage the tournament is the most crucial task.
So Mr.Liu visited Education City Golf Club in Doha Qatar on 29th February. He was welcomed by the General Manager, Mr.Anthony Caira, and his team. The team showed Mr.Liu the club and checked the possible fairways and driving range to play the game.
The ALDA General Secretary sounded highly satisfied after the inspection of the golf course. While speaking on the issue he said, “The driving range suits perfectly for hosting a Long Drive event with 400 plus yards in length and 60 yards width. It has enough space for the boxing area and the stands where more than 300 fans can stand and cheer for the participants. Education City Golf Club can be the possible venue to host the Asia Long Drive Event in Qatar for sure.”
In a bid to solidify the relationship with the administrative in Qatar, Mr. Liu had an intensive meeting with Mr. Aristeidis Tsoualas director of the Sports Department of Qatar Tourism next day. Mr. Liu explained to Mr. Aris the plans for the development and promotion of Long Drive Sport across Asia.
On the other hand, Mr.Aris on behalf of Qatar Tourism welcomed Mr. Liu. Aris gave a presentation to the ALDA General Secretary, describing the responsibility of Qatar Tourism as well as about Qatar.
The two parties agreed to further discussion and find the best way to support each other and make the Asia Long Drive Event come to Qatar.
Mr. Shine Liu also toured to Almaty, Kazakhstan on his return. During the trip to Central Asia’s one of the most beautiful cities, Mr. Liu met with Mr. Yerbol Bukharbayev, the director of Almaty Golf Association, and introduced the Asia Long Drive Association he also explained the structure of the Asia Long Drive competition and the vision 2034 of ALDA. Mr. Yerbol was satisfied after the detailed discussion with Mr. Liu and expressed happiness to work with ALDA to host a Long Drive event in Kazakhstan. He also hoped that Long Drive sport could be develop in the central Asia countries working together with ALDA.
